Yesterday
is a day in that I will remember the rest of my life. It is a day that made my
career goals a reality. I was accepted in the Masters of Accountancy program at
Brigham Young University. The stem that I was accepted into is the tax stem.
It
started with me in the Tanner building studying for my mcom class. I heard my
phone vibrate, but I was so focused that my phone was the last of my worries.
My phone started to vibrate more, I decided to pause my studies to look at it.
I looked at the first notification which was an email from Julie Averett. My
heart started to pound in my chest and I immediately knew what is was for. As I
opened the email it stated, “MAcc admission decisions have been made for
Fall 2014. To read your decision, go to . . . .” I clicked on the
link. I didn't think three seconds of loading a page could take any longer. My
pounding heart was instantly relieved as the first word I read was “Congratulations.”
The first thing I did was fall to my knees to thank my God, the One who has truly
helped me achieve this goal of mine.
I still have a lot of accomplishments I need to achieve in my
life, but accomplishing this goal was the start. Having my Masters in Accounting
will help me get the job I want; it will then depend how hard I work to
accomplish my other goals.
I am excited about these next two years. I will be able to study
a topic that I love—Tax. Yes you might wonder who would enjoy such a subject;
however, being able to bring other people pleasure by saving taxes bring me
joy.
